Creator Series - Motivation

Updated: Jun 4, 2022

So let’s get this straight in most “How to create” anything or “how to start your own business”. They break down into certain factors. From it being creating your own game; which would be like what type of game will it be? A Shooter, RPG, RTS, Sports, MMO, Board, Card? What Genre? Medieval, Sci-fi, Western, Superhero?

This list goes on for many reasons; you even remotely start anything, but you cannot get anywhere without Motivation. Without this, which is the driving force that makes you want to get up during your day to work on your project, stream, business, whatever it is that you want to be successful in. It takes hard core dedication, and motivation to make this a reality. Which goes without saying a lot of heart.

That’s why personally follow these 5 techniques -

Gain

  • Set yourself a bigger goal.

  • Set smaller goals along the way.

  • Do your research.

  • Get support.

  • Stay positive.

First step - Set yourself a bigger goal

With this it’s the most obvious goal which would technically be the main objective of your project's task.

Best examples are: getting the main gameplay finalized, having the beginning/middle/end of your story concept completed, phase 1 of your website, completing one level in your jrpg, getting a second truck for a junk hauling business, etc.

Now I know you might wonder why not set the final goal products, complete the book ready to send to your publisher, a fully completed website, a completed jrpg ready to be uploaded to steam, and get a dump truck for your junk hauling business. These are very true bigger goals that you can go ahead, and set this for yourself at the get go if you very well wanted to, but setting your goals in phases is something that I like myself personally.

Either method you take will allow you to keep reminding yourself how you feel when you accomplish the bigger goals set for the final goal you are aiming for. This will give you a much more rewarding process which will find it easier to find that motivation to finish the goals you set yourself.

Second Step - Set smaller goals along the way

Whatever your main goal is either as the actual final goal or set up in phases.

You can still break down your task into smaller goals to reach those bigger goals or even completion of set phases. Which helps organize your work or you can even distribute your workload if you have a team. This in general will make it easier for yourself to accomplish these smaller tasks towards your greater task that you want to accomplish.

Third Step - Do your research

Individuals tend to give up on their planned goals because they have set their expectations too high or due to that they are just not ready. Dreaming big is not the issue, it's not properly preparing for the big dream you are trying to aim for.

Never be discouraged, just realize you will have to take a realistic point of view to achieve your goals. To do that you will need to research, and plan on what it takes to achieve that goal. Make sure you see the full process from beginning to the end, cost, legal, time, plus your own effort that will have to go into it. If you do this accordingly your goal will start to feel real, and more achievable.

Fourth Step - Get support

Having the proper support structure is key to ensure that your motivation to accomplish your goals. Chatting with your friends, family, teacher or spouse about your goal, and how to achieve that goal. Others might have the business, legal or creative experience to help aid you. Even if not the experience, a second option about things or emotional encouragement for you to help keep you on track on achieving your goals. With the extra reinforcement of others knowing your goals, you will find it harder to abandon your goals.

Fifth Step - Stay positive

Always be prepared to have obstacles in your way of your goal. One thing that you will realize is that a few or many obstacles will come your way making you want to give up on your goal. If an obstacle comes your way, take the time to rationally think about how to handle it. Don’t rush to react to it, remember to stay calm, and relax to think over the situation. Most importantly is not to give up.

Final thoughts -

As a creator or business owner you will have a lot of people who want to tear you down. Either being from individuals from a social media platform or even your own family. You will have to find yourself to overcome these as well, and stay positive to make your dreams, your goals come true. With that said do not let your dreams or your goals destroy your life, seen many come to this destroying their own families from trying to achieve their dreams or goals. Reasons why making sure to stick to realistic goals that can be achievable with having the proper support system you will be able to do anything.

Remember that at any age you can gain success at any age in your lifetime. One of my own true personal inspirations is Colonel Sanders, founder of KFC. He was an entrepreneur who didn't become a professional chef until he was 40, didn't franchise Kentucky Fried Chicken until he was 62, and didn't become an icon until after he sold his company at 75. The KFC branches in Asia specifically in Japan, Taiwan, and Thailand are so dang good. Or Walt Disney which I have no reason to explain this individual's successful legacy. A famous quote from Disney himself is “We keep moving forward, opening new doors and doing new things, because we're curious and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths.” Which is very good for those looking for better ways to aid in their motivation.

We hope you enjoyed our lesson, keep a lookout for future lessons to come.
